New chemo drug effective in treating prostate cancer
June 1st, 2008 Posted in prostate chemotherapyA research team at the Oregon Health and Science University have found a new chemotherapy drug, called Sagopilone, that may help treat prostate cancer. This is a new class of drug that inhibits growth and the spread of malignant cell, similar to docetaxel, which has been the gold standard for this type of hormone independent prostate cancer.
The research conclusion showed that men with a certain type of prostate cancer responded well to this new drug plus prednisone.
This research was presented at the annual American Association of Clinical Oncology in Chicago.
